Coffee with Sophie and Christos

Tuesday, October 2. This is going to be a short entry because I now have three days in "draft" form and need to get cracking!

This morning, I get an email from GG landlord, saying first off that he hopes I haven't been too disturbed by the occasional rugby brouhaha and then asking politely if maybe could I pay the rent for October. whoops! I've completely forgotten. So later today, I withdraw a bunch of euros from the ATM so I can give it to him in cash. I have no interest in going to BNP Parisbas and trying to do a wire transfer from my bank account in the US to his bank account here. I did that for the first month's rent and the security deposit but that was when I was still in the US.

Class in the afternoon. Our new teacher, Antoinette, is fantastic.

I'm walking home with my wad of euros (I've stopped at one of the ATMs closest to home) and see Christos (GG landlord) and Sophie having coffee in the little bistrot across the "street" (it's pedestrianized). They invite me to join them which is great because not only do I have a good time talking to them but I can also hand off all the cash I'm carrying around. Now this is the life: sitting across from one's very own front door, having coffee with two lovely people and watching the world go by. :) Sophie is also Greek but she and Christos met in Paris! She's a beautiful, well-educated and accomplished woman. They have one son who is 14 and, of course, is completely bi-lingual in French and Greek and also studies English and Russian at school.

Tonight I stay up way too late to finish the French murder mystery. Pedometer 5,123. Warm today, partly cloudy, partly sunny. 70 degrees
