Writing, Writing, Writing

Out this morning to get coffee, milk and sugar. Interestingly, Splenda appears not to have made it to France. There is one kind of artificial sweetener that I've seen but it has Aspartame in it so I'm sticking with regular sugar.

Made cafe au lait with my new cafetiere pression, heated the water and the milk in the microwave, and it was fan-freakin'-tastic, if I do say so myself. What a gift to be drinking perfect cafe au lait in my perfect apartment in the perfect location in a perfect city! OK so I'm a little nuts.

I have been writing most of the day (it's now almost 5 p.m.) and amazingly I've had nothing to eat and have not felt hungry. I think I needed to get all of this down "on paper" and I had a lot of territory to cover, from mid-August until now. It has been an eventful time. Even now, I'm not sure I have it all but I can come back to it later.

As I've been sitting here, I can barely hear the sounds of the city (much louder when I open the windows!) but earlier I heard something very noisy going by - loud music, whistle blowing and shouting. I leapt up to look out the window and saw a colorfully painted bus with men wearing blue shirts with yellow and white stripes, standing in the open part of the bus in the back, waving their arms and red flags with a white design in the center. I assumed it was to do with the Coupe du Monde de Rugby which is going on now in Paris, but when the bus came by a second time, I got to the window more quickly and saw that it was advertising for Puma. Also this time, there were women in pink shirts along with the men!

I think I'm going to quit writing for awhile, have something to eat and take a walk. But what a luxury to be able to spend a whole day in Paris writing and still know that there will be time for other pleasures on other days.
